Recently, our Ethiopian staff came up with a unique idea to honour International Women's Day… Hosting a Blood Drive!
So today, in partnership with the Ethiopian Red Cross and Carry 117 many of our staff joined together and chose to give blood specifically for women who are in need of blood during difficult deliveries or other emergency situations. A total of 23 units (6,625 ml, 6.63 L) of blood was donated to the National Blood Bank!
Hosting a blood drive is something HFK plans to facilitate twice per year. Partnering together, with staff from other local organizations in Korah, we can give a lot and we hope to expand this clinic in order to make a bigger difference. Blood donations have significantly decreased, due to the global pandemic and Ethiopia is currently experiencing a shortage in their blood supply. So, more than ever, it is important for people to give blood.
Both Carry 117 and Hope for Korah, LOVE that our Ethiopian staff have come together to reach out beyond the community we serve and give this gift to those who really need it!
“Giving blood, means giving life; it is something everyone can give freely. The act of giving blood is simple, yet the impact it makes in someone’s life is immeasurable.”
