Tigist's Story – The Ripple Effect of a Gift
Tigist was born into extreme poverty. Her parents once scavenged at the garbage dump just to feed their family. But through Hope for Korah, their story began to change. Tigist’s mother graduated from HFK’s Family Empowerment Program and has been steadily employed for five years—bringing stability and hope to their home.
A few years ago, Tigist’s life took a difficult turn when she was diagnosed with tuberculosis. She battled the illness for years, and at times her life hung in the balance. By the time she recovered, she had fallen far behind in school and felt discouraged. Recognizing her potential, our staff encouraged Tigist to explore a new path. She completed a clothing design and sewing course, and today she not only has employment but also volunteers at HFK’s Income Generation Center—joyfully teaching other women the same skills that have given her hope for the future.
Over the years, Tigist has received many life-changing gifts like those found in this catalogue—health care, school sponsorship, nutrition, clothing, youth programs, and counseling. Her story is a powerful reminder of the difference your generosity makes in Korah.
